Tang Horse

The MFA Boston has a remarkable, larger than life painted wood Bodhisattva in its collection. When I lived in Boston, I used to go to the museum to just sit before the very strong presence of the statue. It's been in storage now for years but I always go to see if they've brought it back. Not yet. But they do have a nice collection of glazed earthenware horses in the same area. This horse from the Tang dynasty is among them. A detail from the saddle ornamentation is below:
